Missionary
Opportunities with Military Youth
|

|
Can you imagine yourself leading a group of
teens on a service project to the
Czech Republic?
Could
you comfort
a middle school student whose father has been deployed to Iraq for 6
months. Can you picture yourself praying with a student on a beach in
Italy. Could you share with a teen who has moved 4 times in the past 5
years that Jesus is a steady rock she can depend on?
If you feel inspired by these scenarios, we
invite you to explore staff opportunities with YFC as we partner with
Military Community Youth Ministries.
YFC works with MCYM to provide
youth-workers to minister to American teens whose parents serve in the
U.S. military. MCYM is a unique ministry that reaches teens who might
not otherwise hear the Gospel. Our ministry is relationally-oriented and
outreach-focused, with an ecumenical sensitivity to the many faith
groups represented on our military bases. Being part of MCYM is an
amazing opportunity to live in another culture or work stateside and
DO WHAT YOU LOVE! YOUTH MINISTRY!

Job Descriptions |
Community Director
Community Directors lead middle and high school youth
programs on military bases worldwide. This is a hands on role and also
includes recruiting and training volunteers. Job requirements:
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree and two years of hands on
experience in youth ministry. Competitive salary and benefits
package, three-year commitment and some fund-raising
is required. Military background and experience in leading volunteers
preferable, but not required.
Associate
Director
Associate Directors work
alongside a Community Director, providing youth ministry on military
bases in Europe. You will receive training while you minister through
camps, clubs, Bible studies, service projects and unstructured "hanging
out" time. Job requirements: Applicants must have a bachelor's degree
and youth ministry experience. A three-year commitment and some
fundraising is required.
Full Time Intern
Be part of our intensive two year intern program
while working under the guidance of a Community Director. Interns take
part in all aspects of ministry, while completing a two year curriculum.
You will receive training while you minister through camps, clubs, Bible
studies, service projects and unstructured "hanging out" time. Job
requirements: Applicants must have a bachelor's degree and a desire to
learn more about youth ministry. Following successful completion of the
intern program staff will be offered a third year as a associate
director or above. Some fundraising is required.
Short term interns and Missionary Service
Volunteers
If you are a college student wanting to experience
first-hand the challenges and rewards of youth ministry, this is the
position for you. You will serve under a Community Director and receive
direction and training while you minister through camps, clubs, Bible
studies, service projects and unstructured "hanging out" time. As an
intern, you are an important role model for teens, setting a personal
example of living for Jesus Christ. A desire to love and serve youth is
an absolute prerequisite for this position, as this is an intense
ministry, not a vacation. Semester credit can be coordinated prior to
embarking into the field. Summer and semester interns raise all of their
own support.
If you are
interested in short term volunteer opportunity, but do not fit into the
intern category, consider becoming a Missionary Service Volunteer. You
may be able to commit to a semester or you may want to work at the
Spring Service Project. We would like to help you serve the military
youth ministry in unconventional ways.
